River Rock Books debuted October 2017 under the publishers, Jan Haag, Julia Moore, and Katie McCleary, in Sacramento, California. Linda Collins joined the group in June 2022.
River Rock Books publishes literary work by writers living and contributing to the greater Sacramento region, which has been the home to many famous writers including: Joan Didion, William Vollmann, Vanessa Diffenbaugh, Richard Rodriguez, John Lescroart, Allison Brennan, Jodi Angel, Christian Kiefer, Kim Stanley Robinson, and many more.
In addition to publishing favorite books from our favorite writers, RRB staff members independently offer a variety of services such as writing workshops, facilitator training, manuscript review & editing, and professional development. Visit these websites for details.
Jan Haag: Jan offers writing workshops in Sacramento to writers of all ages and backgrounds as a trained facilitator in the Amherst Writers and Artist Method. Workshops are generative, focused on craft or revision, and inclusive of all genres.
Linda Collins: Linda offers manuscript review services aimed at sharpening a writer’s intention while preserving the integrity of her style and voice. She is a long-time presence in Sacramento’s vibrant poetry community. Find her own poetry collection, Painting Trees, here.
Katie McCleary: Katie is a public speaker, facilitator, professional development trainer, storyteller, professor of leadership, and coauthor of Bridge the Gap.
